「油良の海は、大島でもっとも静かで美しい。」
そんなふうに言う人がいます。
強い波もなく、
ただ穏やかな水面が広がり、
風の音と、
ときおり遠くをいく船の音だけが聞こえてきます。
けれど、少し耳を澄ますと、
山からは鳥の声が聞こえ、
夏には蝉の声がにぎやかに響きます。
お寺が一つ、お宮が一つ。
海と山のあいだにある、
小さな町。
油良（YURA）と呼ばれています。

is the quietest and most beautiful
on Suo-Oshima.”
There are no strong waves,
only calm waters stretching out before you.
You hear the sound of the wind,
and now and then,
a boat passing in the distance.
But listen a little more closely,
and you’ll hear birds calling from the mountains,
and in summer,
the lively chorus of cicadas.
One temple.
One shrine.

between the sea and the mountains.
