BEYOND

One day,
we decided to open the temple.

That simple act
gave us the chance
to meet all kinds of people.

We talked,
shared ideas,
and thought about things together.

As those moments continued,
little by little,
new things began to take shape
beyond the temple.

A place to enjoy tea.
A place to stay.

And attempts to carry forward
what has been passed down
in this place.

None of it
was planned from the beginning.

Through meeting people
and spending time in this town,
these things slowly found their shape.

FROM THE TEMPLE TO THE TOWN.

And what lies beyond
is still unfolding.

MATCHA-STAND TACHIBANA

A TEA ROOM FOR THE TOWN

MATCHA-STAND TACHIBANA

" What if there were
a tea room in the middle of town? "

That simple thought
was where the matcha stand began.

Drop by,
and make yourself a bowl of tea.

Enjoy a quiet moment alone,
or exchange a few words with the host.

What if there were a place like this,
a kind of doorway into the town?

Somehow,
we thought that might be
a little more fun.

MEMORIES OF EVERYDAY LIFE

01 SHISO SYRUP

In Yura,
summer once meant making shiso syrup
in homes throughout the town.

Red shiso,
with a little green shiso too.

Each family made it a little differently,
but it was something
passed down through everyday life here.

Over time,
fewer and fewer people began making it.

Will it simply
disappear one day?

Could we carry it forward,
along with the memories around it?

That was something
we began to wonder about.

FROM THE TEA ROOM

HOJICHA LATTE BASE

A cup of tea,
enjoyed here in Yura.

What if you could bring
that tea experience home?

With that thought in mind,
we created a latte base
using some of Japan’s finest hojicha.

FUTAMA

A SIDEWAYS KIND OF STAY

FUTAMA

Not just a place to sleep,
but a place to stay.

Going somewhere to see something.
Heading out to explore.

That’s nice too.

But here,

you can do nothing
and simply spend some time.

Pause for a while.
Shift your perspective, just a little.

Somehow,
this kind of time feels right for this town.
